Corozo Blue's

Barton Creek

The seven mile bus ride to arrive at Barton Creek can be a tiring one. Some may feel like they journey will never end. There's two mini bridges that need to be passed with in the seven miles. Take a night walk and see all the bugs and other critters near the water.

Go for a tour of the cave on canoes. Inside the cave you can see a bunch of stalagmites and stalactites. Also, a  Mayan jaw up on the walls of the cave can be seen. Not to mention that they also do zip-lining.  They call the last line, "Pee Line" because a lot of the people that do zip-line, end up peeing from the height, view and experience.

San Antonio Village in Cayo District

The road to reach San Antonio Village is a long  one. However, don't not discourage you from going. On your way to said village, there is a small Mayan Temple/ Ruin. This temple looked newly founded due to its features. It is surrounded by tall, picturesque trees and a large Mayan head could be seen on the temple.

            Shortly after, you arrive at the San Antonio Village in Cayo to the Women’s Group. At the front of the location is a small green building was the gift shop. To the right of the gift shop is the sign that said “Welcome to San Antonio Women’s Co-op Gift Shop”.

            Directly behind the gift shop is a medium sized palapa that contains three long rectangle tables. To the left to the palapa is the women’s house, and to the left is the pottery building. Behind the house is another palapa which is the kitchen. Behind the first palapa way at the back is the bathroom.

        At the entrance of the kitchen there is a sink to the right for people to wash their hands before handling food. To the left of the entrance there is a medium sized rectangle table. At the far end of the right there is a fire-heart situated on top of a clay table about three feet high. On the far left there is another table with a fancy design of a jaguar head. 

      The pottery room has a couple chairs facing the left wall. This wall contains three doors. The first door has molds for the pottery. To the left of the chairs there is a sink to wash your hands after having dealt with the clay.

      Come to the San Antionio Women's Group situated in Cayo, Belize and learn how to make hand made corn tortillas and also learn how to do your own clay pottery.

Xunantunich

Xunantunich lies directly on the tourist route for those leaving Belize for Tikal in Guatemala or vice versa and is easily accessible from the Western Highway. Less than one mile below the site are the surging rapids of the Mopan River. The actual reserve covers .25 sq. hm. The name Xunantunich derives from the Yucatec Maya language and means “Stone Woman.”  Local legend holds that a gentleman from the village of San Jose Succotz Belize went hunting near the site. Crossing the base of the Castillo, he was struck by the appearance of a beautiful statuesque Maya maiden. The woman stood motionless by the mouth of a cave which extended beneath the large structure. Stricken by her appearance, the man threw his gun aside and ran downhill to the village. After recounting his tale several villagers led by their native priest returned to the site. Arriving at the large mound they found the mouth of the tunnel, but the stone maiden had disappeared. Thereafter locals claim that the woman has appeared to several others but none have been able to follow her into the cavern.
